Give me your best "Why Bain?" answers?

I know you're looking for specific answers, but I honestly have to say you're asking us to do your homework for you - copying these answers will just result in you having a “generic” response come interview time…this isn't good!

That said, you can use any of the following:

1. The people - Extroverted. Social. Smart.
2. Work hard play hard - Flexible+fun culture. Lots of social activities and events
3. Support network/collaborative culture - “A Bainie never let's another Bainie fail”
4. Type of work - PE/Finance/Due Diligence
5. Managerial experience - “Heirarchical” structure where you will mentor/oversee those in roles lower than you (earlier than at McK/BCG)
6. Ability to grow quickly - frequent feedback model. Feedback culture. 6-12 month review cycles
7. Home office model - like building the local network, but still having opportunity to fly other places

Ian said it best. Only thing I would add it is to namedrop and mention some people you met that work at Bain.

Can be former uni colleagues or work peers, people you met on recruiting events, etc.

Showcase how your discussions with them has strengthened your motivation to work at Bain.

Most importantly, the answer should be authentic!

It looks like you've gotten some great pointers on this, the only thing I would add is to try to draw from your networking experiences. If you've had some interesting conversations that shed light into working at Bain and gave you more reason to be excited about joining the company, I would mention those and mention the name of the person who you talked to (particularly if they are senior).

You are going about this the wrong way. The answer needs to be yours and fit your story. When asked Why Company X, 90% candidates sound exactly the same!

Ian has some given great pointers, so use them but please make sure you think this through. Its your life, your story. How does Company X fit into that and why now!

There was once a time when job hunting involved actually doing your own research and speaking with employees… 

Because Bain is an elite firm and I care about prestige.
