Does anyone know if Bain and McKinsey are done sending out R1 interview invites to new grads? Applied in June and was told by the recruiters l did not need to take the assessments since I had passed the previous cycle. Still have not heard anything

Unfortunately there's no better option that reaching out to the recruiter you previously spoke to. They will have the most up-to-date information on the process. If you've previously passed the assessment and they have you in mind for R1 then I'd be confident that they will honour that.

We don't know if Bain and McKinsey are “done” sending invites, and I wouldn't waste too much energy trying to reverse engineer it.

But you've been waiting for months.

At this point, I would mentally assume you are not interviewing. Not because that's 100% certain, but because it changes what you should do.

Reach out to recruiting once for a status update if you haven't already.

Then keep applying elsewhere.

If an invite comes? Great. You should be case ready.

If it doesn't? You haven't wasted months sitting around waiting for two firms.

Don't put your future in the hands of one or two recruiting processes.

It might make sense to reach out to the recruiter and ask for an update at this point. Maybe they are able to help you with a timeline.

I wouldn’t assume you’re out just because you haven’t heard back yet. Recruiting timelines can vary significantly by office and hiring cycle, and not needing to retake the assessment can also mean your application is simply being reviewed separately.

Since you applied back in June, I’d send recruiting a short follow up now and ask whether there is any update on your application timeline. That’s completely reasonable and gives you a clearer answer than trying to read into the silence.
