Is there at least ONE person with an executive/part-time MBA who got into MBB.. i would guess probably maybe? Personally, I have not seen it yet. But in such a large sample size there could be at least one.

The main point however is that the bulk of recruiting happens through full-time MBA programs.

  • Executive MBAs are normally reserved for people with significant work experience and are senior level, and so people who are go for these are not the target segment of candidates anyways
  • Part-time MBAs are popular but again do not hold the same prestige / branding as full-time MBAs -> i.e. they do not 'signal' you as an ideal candidate that a degree at INSEAD / LBS / HSW would

If you are looking to try and apply, and if you don't come from a target school, nothing is going to change that now. You can anyways still apply, nothing is stopping you from doing that.

What would probably be the most key in your position is to network - if you can get a referral, that could at least get you through the door.

Hi there,

Yes, that's possible.

The reason most people get recruited through full-time MBA programs is that there is a strong recruiting effort targeted at these cohorts and a clear roadmap for how they can join and where they fit in these firms.

If you're outside of this track, you can still join. In the end, consulting firms require for skills and expertise. So if you can prove these, they would be happy to have you.

I would start by having conversations with recruiters from the firms you'd want to target and get a sense of what roles you should apply for. You might also find this guide useful:
