Boutiques in London

Hello,

I want to apply to an entry-level position in a consulting firm in London.

I've been told by consultants I've been in contact with that because I need a visa to work there and that my school isn't international (even if 4th-ranked in my country), it may be complicated to pass the screening of top tier/tier 2 firms.

I'd like to apply to other consulting firms in case I can't pass the screening with top tier/tier2 firms.

What are boutiques I can apply to in London that may be more accessible and which still preserve my chances of getting to an MBB in the future?

Thanks

Thank you for the list! Do you know which ones I should take into consideration to be able to switch top a Top Tier/tier 2 firm later? Only the ones classified as T2?

Boutiques are not going be any easier am afraid, given the visa constraints. I suggest you network more, get your profile reviewed and get referred. Some popular boutiques in UK are Elixirr, Baringa, Moorhouse, Barton Partnership & North Highland. There are many more by niche areas. Google them.

But generally speaking, for UK right now, you have a better chance of being sponsored by a big firm than a smaller one.

If MBB is your dream, you can get there via getting employed locally and trying for transfer or getting into BIG4/Accenture etc and moving after 2-3 years. None are easy options specially for London office! But dont let that dishearten you. Try your best and let things happen.

Hi there,

I couldn't agree more with Adi; the large, multinationals are the ones that are going to have the resources to sponsor you while the boutiques will likely have to hire local.

Really go for any tier 2s that say they sponsor (either through their website or through networking conversations you have).

The direct path to MBB is generally an MBA, not other consultancies…you should be joining these firms because you want to do consulting period, not with the aim of getting into MBB in 3+ years!

Good luck!
