I will have an interview at BCG germany soon and I am curious what does the process looks like at BCG? How many rounds do they have? How long do they go?
BCG Interview

Congrats on landing an interview with BCG Germany!
The BCG interview process typically consists of two rounds:
- First Round:
- Usually includes two 45-minute interviews
- Each interview has a fit (behavioral) portion and a case
- Final Round:
- Again, two interviews with more senior interviewers
- Same structure as round one, but higher expectations on clarity, insight generation, and top-down communication
The full process typically spans 1–3 weeks, depending on scheduling, but prep time is critical. From my experience coaching candidates for BCG (and having gone through the process myself), the difference between receiving an offer and being rejected often comes down to how targeted and efficient your preparation is, especially at this late stage.
My advice:
Don't wait until the last minute. If your interview is within the next 2–3 weeks, this is your window to ramp up case and fit practice aggressively. BCG expects candidates to not only “solve” the case but also to lead the case, generate insights, and communicate with confidence. The same goes for behavioral — your stories need to be sharp, structured, and tailored to what BCG values (e.g., problem solving/insights, practicality/effectivennes verbal/written comms, team and client management).
If you’d like personalized feedback and a mock case under realistic conditions, I’d be happy to support you. I recommend booking a session soon so we can create a focused plan and help you show up prepared to perform at your best.
Let me know if you’d like to connect — and best of luck with the interview!

Hi there,
I interned at BCG and the process looked like this for me (in 2021):
Round 1:
First, an Online Case with their Chat Bot. Then, a real interview to complete Round 1.
Round 2:
Two more interviews. Seniority did not vary significantly.
Keep in mind that this was for an internship and during Covid.
Please reach out if I can help you further!
Cheers,
Kevin

Hi there,
I see you've already received an overview of what the process is meant to look like.
However, I would strongly encourage you to connect with the recruiter for a quick chat. They will break down the process for you and explain whether there are any specific adjustments to the process that have to do with the role you are targeting. As part of the conversation, you can also confirm with them that they are actively recruiting and answer any other questions you might have (all of this is critical to increase your chances at screening).

Congrats on landing the interview with BCG Germany.
Building on what other already provided based on my experience with BCG Germany:
R1 (sometimes virtual):
- Online Test
- 2 Interviews (Case & Fit)
R2 (in person):
- BCG Real Life (2 typical case situations as kind of a role play)
- 2 Interviews (Case & Fit), slightly more senior but usually not Partners (more on the PL/Pr level)
There is a chance this might have slightly changed in the last few months but should be pretty accurate as I left BCG 6 months ago. In any case the recruiters are more than happy to help you with information on the process.
Let me know in case of questions and/or if you need any support.

Hi, congrats on landing the BCG Germany interview! That’s already a huge step forward
Let me walk you through what to expect, based on both my experience and what I’ve seen with other candidates:
BCG Interview Process – What It Looks Like
Number of Rounds:
- Typically 2 to 3 rounds, with 2 interviews per round (so usually 4 interviews total).
- If you get strong yeses from all your interviewers, you may finish in just two rounds (2 + 2).
- If there’s a “maybe” from any interviewer, BCG may invite you for an additional interview — usually with a partner or MD to make the final call.
Duration:
Each interview is around 45–60 minutes — split between:
- A case interview (~30–40 mins)
- A behavioral/personal fit discussion (~10–15 mins)
What to Focus on Now
1. Nail Your Behavioral Stories
Don’t just prep the case — BCG pays serious attention to the “fit” part.
Be ready for:
- “Why BCG?”
- “Why this office?”
- “Walk me through your CV.”
- Leadership or conflict experiences
Tip: Tie your answers to your personal story. Make it sound genuine, not overly scripted — they want to see your motivations and thought process, not just polished lines.
2. Prepare for Unstructured Cases
Especially with senior partners, the cases at BCG can be quite open-ended. For example:
“A traditional printing press in Germany is struggling. The owner doesn’t know how to navigate the future. What would you advise?”
No numbers. No data. No charts. Just ambiguity. That’s because real clients come to BCG with vague challenges, and they want to see how you handle that.
Tip: In these cases, don’t freeze — break the problem down logically, ask clarifying questions, and bring structure to the chaos.
Final Advice
Most BCG interviewers are friendly. They want you to succeed — they’re looking for someone they’d enjoy working with, not trying to trip you up. Confidence, curiosity, and structure go a long way.
If you want to simulate one of these unstructured cases or get feedback on your behavioral stories, I’d be happy to help.
Good luck — you’re already in the game. Now it’s just about showing up ready.
Best,
Pallav
