I am in an MBA at a target school and I did the Bain online test and Mckinsey solve for an internship. If I fail given I found them to be challenging does the ban of one year or more hold if I want to apply for full time.My MBA is one year Thanks
Ban Period For Bain and Mckinsey
Hi there,
Yes, both Bain and McKinsey generally have a one-year ban before you can reapply if you don’t progress, whether it’s for an internship or full-time role. Since your MBA is one year, it’s worth planning carefully around timing so you can target the next cycle.
for Bain and McKinsey it is usually about a one-year ban, but MBA programs often get exceptions for full-time recruiting because the cycle is so short. Just check with recruiting early, they are usually flexible.
best, Alessa :)
hi there,
Generally speaking, the ban would be 12 months. That said, sometimes some office might have exception depending on their need for new recruit, so you can always check back with the recruiting team to see if there is any flexbility.
Best,
Emily
The ban does not hold if you're recruiting via new channel like an MBA.
That said "given I found them to be challenging" does concern me. Make sure you prep properly next time...and remember that the case prep experience is much much harder...and the job itself it even harder than that.
Feel free to message for a discount on online test materials!
You may be able to apply again for the full time position. Usually the 12 month ban doesn't apply in these situations.
However, your test score may be still taken into consideration, which means that your chances are quite low.
Yes, the ban is typically one year.
But if you feel you have made significant progress (in terms of your experience or prep) after 6-9 months, reach out to the recruiter explaining the situation and asking to be considered earlier. They sometimes make exceptions.
