Hi everyone,
Applying to McKinsey Copenhagen – How Competitive Is My Profile?

Hello!! I think your profile is in a really good spot for McKinsey Copenhagen :) You’ve got a strong academic experience with the MSc in Economics (and the quant finance focus), relevant work in asset management, and a top-10% Solve score which signals you already think in the structured, analytical way McKinsey looks for.
On what to expect, for Copenhagen specifically, the process is usually two rounds on the same day:
- First round → with Consultants (Associate or EM level, 2 interviews)
- Final round → with Partners (2 interviews)
Each interview is ~ 1 hour with ~15 minutes on fit/PEI, ~30 minutes on the case, and the rest for your questions. McKinsey places as much weight on your PEI as on your case, so make sure you prep both equally. This means the interview is not just about nailing the math or framework, it’s also about showing them how you’ve led, solved problems, and made an impact.
Because your profile is already competitive, the biggest things you can do now are:
- Try to get a referral from someone in the Copenhagen office (alumni network, LinkedIn outreach, etc.)
- Prepare your PEI stories so they’re recent, detailed, and show leadership, initiative, and impact
- Practice cases until you’re confident you can drive the case from start (MECE framework) to finish (elevator pitch)
Good luck, I wish you get the interview and offer!

Am I missing something, or is there no information showing regarding your profile?
It appears as a blank after 'Hi everyone,...'
Happy to provide a perspective if you upload relevant info.
Best,
Cristian
