Applying MBB (SEA Office) Timing - Experienced Hire

Hi may I check is there a right timing OR which timing to avoid when to apply as an experienced hire in the SEA office?

Have been told to do before August as MBA will start applying.

I am intending to apply soon after I am in a better state for case study preparation. I am from a Big 4 with 6YOE in Strategy & Transformation and Risk.

Thank you!

Hi,

"Better safe than sorry" approach would suggest applying outside of MBA application peak times. That said, the difference is marginal and the quality of your application and case performance would matter much more. So if you're not restrained by time, go ahead and avoid peak times, if you are constrained, just apply and do your best.

Hi Jenny! Thanks for the reply - may I know what are the peak times yeah? I am planning to submit an application end of this month ideally. Thanks!

For those that are graduating from their MBA and looking for full-time roles, applications are normally July-August in order to get offers by Oct-Nov.

Free 15m intro call | First session -50% | Bain| Hiring team | 250+ successful candidates

Hi,

Very good question. As an experienced hire, I faced the same issue. It's indeed correct to say that MBA candidates will start applying end August-September. If you are not coming from MBA, I would indeed advise you not to apply on the same peak moment.

Let me know if you require further coaching.

Hi there,

I think you should contact the recruiter and clarify this directly with them. They set these deadlines and nobody can give you a better, more up to date sense of upcoming deadlines and what role is suitable for you than them.

Best,
Cristian

It's probably marginally better to avoid peak hiring times, but you will still have to meet the (high) MBB bar regardless of when you apply.

Worth speaking to a recruiter to discuss directly.

I'd just apply regardless of timing

Hi there,

For BCG and Bain, experienced hire recruiting is all year round. There is not specific timeline you need to follow.

You are not in the same schedule as MBA students either. E.g., as interviewer, I interviewed MBA students in batches (usually over a few half-days), and experienced hire in separate batches.  MBA interviews have a more rigid schedule the recruiting team has to follow (usually aligned with the schools). For experienced hire, it is a lot more fluid. They might wait until they have a bunch of candidates then schedule the inteviews in one-go.

Best,

Emily
