Anyone having or recently had the Interview Day at Monitor Deloitte in Germany?

Hi all,

did anyone recently had the interview day at Monitor in Germany. I would love to know about your experience and tips to prepare.

The email states, there will be a self-presentation, a group case, and 2 written cases and 1 fit interview.

I am not sure, how the group cases are. Also, it would be very helpful if the real written cases at Monitor are similar to the Footloose case that they send.

Thanks a lot.

I was at Deloitte for several years, so let me share what I know.

The written cases: Footloose is a good proxy. You'll get exhibits, a question, and limited time. The trick is to read the question first, then look at the exhibits. Most people do it backwards and waste time.

The group case: this is where strong solo performers often trip up. Monitor wants to see how you think with others, not just alone. Structure the problem before the group jumps in, build on what others say, and help the group land on a conclusion before time runs out. Don't dominate. Don't go quiet either. Both get noticed.

The self-presentation: two to three minutes, clear story, end with why Monitor specifically. Vague answers here are a red flag.

The fit interview: they care about genuine curiosity and real interest in the work. Have a specific example of a time you worked through a messy problem with limited information.

The day is long but very manageable if you stay steady throughout.

Hi there,

I've prepared candidates previously for Monitor.

The format of the cases is not 'Monitor' specific, and in that sense, you can use any type of case to practice.

What you need to practice, though, are your casing skills, and especially your performance on the written case.

If you need help with this, reach out, and I can explain how I typically work with my candidates through it.

Best,
Cristian

hey there :)

for Monitor Deloitte in Germany the format you describe is very typical and quite structured, the written cases are usually similar in spirit to the Footloose case meaning market entry, profitability or growth with clear exhibits, so practicing structured reading, quick math and synthesizing insights fast is key; the group case is less about cracking the perfect solution and more about how you interact, so contributing early, structuring the discussion and bringing others in matters more than dominating, and for the self presentation keep it very crisp and tailored to “why consulting why Monitor” since they test clarity a lot, overall it’s a demanding but very fair process if you stay structured and communicative

best,
Alessa :)
