Hi there, thanks a lot for the question. I have had many projects abroad so my best and worst experiences took place in different countries:
Best experience in Rwanda: I had a lot of fun working in an environment far away from our headquarters. To experience the benefit of working in diverse teams and jointly exploring new opportunities in the given project context was extremly enlightning. Having one team from different countries (Rwanda, South Africa, Germany) thriving to reach a goal and seeing everyone contributing to it was one of the best experiences.
Worst experience in United States: One of my very first projects as a project manager was very tough due to unclear expectation management, difficult stakeholder and a topic that was totally new to me and honeslty not of my passion. I did not meet my own ambitions and felt overwhelmed. Eventhough I had a fantastic team and other colleagues to support me it that situation it was the worst experience to be away from your loved ones.
I recently join ECON, so definitely my experience will be enriched over time. However, I can already share some insights based on my experience so far.
Best experience
Internal activities with my project team: we organize fun activities together every month. I really enjoyed these activities because they strengthen the team spirit and bring us closer together
Even better ifs
The project could be intense at times. However, we at ECON always emphasise work-life flexibility, and at my current project team we communnicate our workload very transparently so that we can balance it out.
