Hi There!
Interns at Deutsche Bank, especially within the investment banking division, do get exposure to live deals, although the depth of involvement can vary depending on the team’s deal flow and timing. You may not be leading any workstreams, but there’s often a chance to assist with research, presentation materials, comps, or model updates for ongoing transactions. This kind of support work is still very valuable, as it gives you a real-time view into how deals are structured and executed.
What really matters is showing initiative and a strong grasp of the fundamentals. Teams tend to involve interns more when they demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn quickly.
If you’re proactive and take ownership of smaller tasks, it’s likely that you’ll be trusted with more meaningful responsibilities over time. Even if you’re not directly in the room for negotiations, being part of a live process teaches you a lot about the pace, precision, and communication required in banking.
