P/F classes

Hi!

I am applying for MBB for the internship cycle, and looking at Denver/Detroit/Seattle offices and I'm from UMich- Ann Arbor dual majoring in UX & Math.

My 2nd semester of sophomore year went quite bad and i have an F in a P/F course which doesn't affect my GPA, but my GPA is overall down to a 3.75 and would be a 3.8 end of the upcoming fall sem. Since deadlines are coming up, would this not get me a first round?

This would not be a limiting factor.

Several of my colleagues at McK had less-than-perfect GPAs, or were even from non-target schools.

MBB isn’t likely to care about scores from individual classes - and once you receive an offer, it’s not grade-dependent (i.e. when I received my McK offer in undergrad, all I needed to do was finish my degree).

Aside from academic pedigree, the key thing for an MBB application is for it to show tangible, measurable examples of personal leadership and initiative-taking.

Let me know if you’d like some help crafting your application or preparing for MBB interviews.

hey there!

I would say your GPA & the strong dual major is still competitive for MBB. One P/F F that doesn’t impact GPA is unlikely to be a dealbreaker, especially if you show strong leadership, internships, and problem-solving skills. Submit your app confidently and focus on telling a sharp, cohesive story in your resume and cover letter.
