Are you allowed to have multiple monitors during the PSG/Solve game? Eg. If I wanted to use an Excel template on one screen for notetaking, and a second screen for the actual PSG exam itself, would the game consider this as "cheating" or demerit points from the process portion due to the extra clicks/keystrokes needed to move between the two screens? I'm not sure exactly how much the game can "see/capture" on my screen. Thanks!

Also, if this wouldn't be allowed, have people had experience with using two adjacent laptops (one for Excel/notetaking, one for the exam)? I'm trying to avoid relying solely on pen & paper, as I find it much easier to type things out!

Hi there,

I helped candidates that passed the game with any of the following:

  • Multiple devices
  • Excel used on same computer

Having said that, given it is not clear how the tracking works, the safest option is to use multiple devices to avoid any interference with the tracking.

As a bonus point: keep two Excel files instead of one on the computer where you use Excel. In this way, if you have any issue with the formulas, you have an immediate back up option (I helped a candidate once who lost quite a few minutes due to having to get the Excel original file again, as he changed by mistake some formulas).

In case you want to learn how to best prepare for the Imbellus Solve game, you can check the following guides (full disclosure: I am the author;) )

For any questions please feel free to PM me.

Best,

Francesco

Hey there,

Multiple monitors are fine. However, there is no clear answer to how the program tracks the game. Only McK and Imbellus know.

What is likely?

  • The game tracks everything you do in the game window
  • The game does not track everything that happens outside of the game window
  • However, the game might track and record the time of the cursor outside of the game screen

Based on the latter detail, I always recommend my candidates to use a separate laptop or computer to work with Excel.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome!

Cheers,

Florian

Hi there,

Absolutely you can! This shouldn't be a problem at all and applies to all online assessments as well as the live interviews.

Good luck!
