Hello,
For the people coming from software engineering or data sciences background, specially if they are applying for roles in digital transformation; How important is having a public Github repository containing personal projects ?
What is the situations for more technical roles in tech oriented consultancies like BCG X and QuantumBlack ?
Is having a public Github repository important?

Hi there,
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:
- No, because GitHub is first and foremost a platform for collaborative software development. So even if you were applying for a pure software development role, you would not need a GitHub repository.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Hey!
A public GitHub repository can be very helpful, especially for roles in digital transformation or tech-oriented consultancies like BCG X and QuantumBlack. It demonstrates your technical skills, coding practices, and ability to execute projects, which is particularly relevant for more technical roles. While it may not be mandatory, it can definitely set you apart, especially if your projects align with the firm's focus (e.g., AI/ML, data engineering, or software development).
For non-technical consulting roles, it’s less critical but still a nice-to-have if it showcases your understanding of technology. Let me know if you need tips on curating your GitHub!

Hey there,
In short, it would be a nice feature to have and talk about for sure, but certainly not mandatory. I'm not sure it would 'move the needle' a lot. I'd definitely focus on showing other more critical evaluation criteria
All the best!
