BCG Waiting Time

I recently completed all my interview rounds with BCG for a Consultant position. Right after the final round, HR informed me that they would need about 2 weeks to share structured feedback.

It’s now been 4 weeks, and I haven’t received any updates yet.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Do I still stand a chance, or is silence a bad sign?

It’s not uncommon for BCG to take longer than expected, especially if multiple approvals are needed. 4 weeks of silence isn’t a great sign, but it doesn’t always mean rejection; you may still be under consideration or on a waitlist.

If you haven’t already, send a polite follow-up to HR. You still have a chance, but it’s worth keeping other options open too.

And yes, I have heard about such situations with BCG and other firms; it can happen. Not ideal, I know...

Let's keep hopes high and fingers crossed:-)

Update: I just received another email saying they still need one more week to provide structured feedback. What to expect?

Hard to say honestly - I'm afraid you have to bear with them. Let's keep hopes high and fingers crossed.

Hi!

This sounds a little unusual but not entirely unheard of, there’s probably a backlog of candidates.

I would definitely reach out to the HR/Recruiting team, especially since you've completed all the interview rounds.

Please do keep us posted on how it goes!

Good luck!

This happens frequently (having to wait 3-4 weeks).

But at this point, it makes sense to reach out to HR.

Having received an answer has absolutely no meaning regarding your chances of passing to the next stage.

Hi there!

This is not an uncommon occurrence, and until you get an answer, there is no way to say if you passed or not. Feel free to contact HR at this point to see if they have a new deadline.

Good luck!!

Best,

Mari

Hi there,

Q: Do I still stand a chance, or is silence a bad sign?

A total of 4 weeks after a final is not a great sign, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you will be rejected.

There could be multiple reasons for the delay:

  • Partners got busy and cannot align to provide feedback
  • HR got busy and cannot align to provide feedback
  • They want to conclude the process with the candidates in the pipeline
  • They want to align on the future project pipeline to define the exact recruiting needs

As next steps, you can:

  1. Assume the worst-case scenario that this is a rejection, and look for other firms
  2. Wait at least 1 week from the last follow-up, then reach out to HR for an update

Good luck!

Hi there,

before offer decisions are communicated, they have to be aligned between HR and the interviewers in the process. This can sometimes take time for various reasons. A few common ones are listed below for a general overview:

  • internal scheduling conflicts between HR and the interviewers, especially when partners need to be involved
  • the firm is still conducting more final round interviews with other candidates and they might want to wait for that to play out to look at the full candidate picture before extending final offers
  • offers have been extended to “first choice” candidates and the firm is trying to keep “backup” candidates on hold until they know who accepted and who declined their first batch of offers
  • holidays or year-end shutdown delay the decision-making and communication process
  • there is uncertainty internally around budget and the exact headcount they can actually hire so they are trying to buy time

I know that this is unsettling and every candidate wants to have clarity on the status sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, you'll always have to wait for the official word.

However, it is best to just assume a rejection and continue with the recruiting efforts with other firms until you have a written offer in your hands. That way you at least won't lose time.

Best of luck

That's rather unusual, but not unheard of.

Do follow-up with them.

It sometimes happens that the interviewers didn't get to connect, the recruiter was on vacation, sick leave and so on...

Don't assume it didn't work out until you actually hear from them.

Best,
Cristian

Hi,

4 weeks is quite long to wait for a reply. Sometimes the process can slip, but really you wouldn't know what is the real reason behind the delay.

I would follow up with HR and wait for the official response.

Hey there,

Four weeks feels long, but it’s not necessarily a bad sign — BCG sometimes has internal delays with approvals, especially for Consultant roles. Silence often means they’re still finalizing things, not that you’re rejected.

You definitely still stand a chance! Feel free to reach out if you want help crafting a polite follow-up message. :)

Best regards,
Alessa
