Imbellus test anxiety

Dear all,

I hope you are all well.

I recently performed the Imbellus test, and my anxiety is sky-high as I am uncertain whether I have a competitive score.
I created a viable ecosystem within the given time with zero species extinctions. Furthermore, for the plant defense round, I scored 26, 28, and 37 respectively.

Has any of you had similar scores and passed, or is this below the expected threshold for acing the assignment?

Hello!

Best of luck!

Bear in mind that the application is evaluated in a wholistic approach, not only with the Imbellus. Furthermore, other external factors (e.g., amount of spots available that year of for that location) also influence where the bar is.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

Hello,

Your anxiety is understandable but your scores are decent.

Remember that McKinsey evaluates candidates holistically (thus including the test, CV, networking, etc), so hang in there!

All the best!

To be honest that sounds, to me, like you should be above the threshold. Imbellus also tests how you achieved that score but, on paper, I think you should be happy with your performance.

Hi there,

Anxiety is good - it shows that you care :)

If you created a viable ecosystem with no extinctions and within the allotted time, this qualifies as a good performance. However, there is no firm-wide cut off point for the test. The results of the test are evaluated together with your other application documents (CV, cover letter, referral) and then a decision is taken whether to progress the application to the next round. In peak periods, when there are lots of applications, yours will also be compared to that of others.

Best of luck and I hope you hear back from them soon!

Sending you here a couple of readings to prepare you for the consultant life HERE and HERE

Hi there,

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for a lot of users, thus I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • It's difficult for me to accurately assess your performance on the McKinsey Solve assessment without actually seeing the food chain and your tactics in the plant defense rounds. However, purely from the results, I am confident you will pass the McKinsey Solve.
  • Still, it is important to note that McKinsey evaluates candidates holistically and takes a variety of factors into consideration when making hiring decisions. Depending on the country of application, the results of the McKinsey Solve might very well be assessed together with either your applications files or your first-round interview.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on what to do in your specific situation, please feel free to contact me directly.

Best,

Hi there,

This should be enough for a good result. However, please be aware that other factors often play a role as well:

  • Supply and demand (currently there is definitely a slowdown in hiring)
  • Resume
  • Referrals

Your scores are fine! Let's hope the situation turns out in your favor!

Cheers,

Florian

From what you shared, it seems you had a great performance. Having said that:

  1. The game also evaluates how you get to the final result and not the result only
  2. I know cases where the test was assigned before the CV screening and they evaluated the test with the other application material

So looks promising but you will still have to wait for their official confirmation.

Good luck!

Hi there,

This is a good score. If you do not get interviewed it will not be because of the Imbellus test, rather other factors (resume, references, demand, etc.)
