How long is the BCG resume screening?

I finished the pymetrics exactly 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back. This is for US undergrad associate position. What is the typical timeline?

2 weeks post-pymetrics seems like a long time- while I have no data to support this claim, it seems like most people that do get an interview invite hear back a week.

Should I continue prepping?

Hi there,

So, technically you probably should have heard back from now. So, you're right that it's not great.

That said, you should absolutely keep prepping.

That's because (I assume/hope) you've applied to a ton of other firms in order to maximize your odds of success. There's still a chance for BCG, but, importantly, there's a good chance of the others (as long as you did it right)

Regardless, what's the downside cost of studying? Your time…in which you learn and improve yourself

What's the downside cost of not studying? Not getting the offer.

Hi there,

While not ideal, this is not automatically a “No”. Usually you would hear back within the timeframe mentioned, but at times feedback can take longer due to various process-related reasons, so would not write it off just yet.

A good indicator will be whether your direct peers have heard back already. If so, usually not a good sign, if not, likely just slow processing. In either case, might be worthwhile checking directly with the HR responsible for on-campus recruiting.

Hope this helps. Wish you all the best!

Regards, Andi

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the progress in the application process with BCG thus far!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your situation:

  • First of all, the duration for the resume screening process at BCG can vary, mostly based on the volume of applications they are processing. It is worth noting though that, based on the experiences of my coachees, the BCG US recruiting team currently seems to be quite slow with processing candidates to the next stage of the recruiting process.
  • Moreover, I would highly advise you to continue your interview preparation while waiting to hear back from BCG. It's certainly better to be over-prepared than underprepared, and the time you spend now will only help you to improve your future interview performance, whether with BCG or another consulting firm.
  • Lastly, if you still haven't heard back within the next week, I would advise you to reach out to the recruiter to politely inquire about your application status. It's perfectly fine to ask for an update, especially since it's been a while since you completed the BCG Pymetrics pre-interview assessment.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hello,

2 weeks is on the longer side but not unheard of. I would wait one more week, keep prepping in the meantime, and reach out to HR to ask about the status of your application if you still haven't heard. Best of luck!

Hi there,

1) What is the typical timeline? It seems like most people that do get an interview invite hear back a week.

The timeline to hear back after a test might vary depending on the office and recruiting pipeline.

If for your specific office you know that others have been notified it is not a great sign. If you don’t have data on that, please keep in mind that there might be multiple reasons why they might have not reached out yet.

2) Should I continue prepping?

Assuming you have applied to multiple companies or are planning to apply to others, it makes sense to continue the prep. Even if you receive a rejection, you could leverage the preparation for the other firms.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hi there,

Congrats on taking the test!

2 weeks is about average so I wouldn't get concerned for now. Give it another two weeks and if you don't hear back, then contact the recruiter and ask for them for an update on your application.

In the meantime, my strong recommendation would be to continue practising. Especially now since the market is down, it's critical to diversify your applications and have a smart application strategy.

Here's how you can build such a strategy:

Best,
Cristian
