McKinsey 2026 Summer Business Analyst internship: Transcript Submission for Transfer Students?

Hi everyone — I'd really appreciate any insight or advice on the McKinsey 2026 Summer Business Analyst Internship Application (due this week) for students who have attended multiple universities.

**Background:**

Class of 2027, rising junior. I've attended two universities and am transferring to a third:

- School 1: MBB target school (3 semesters)

- School 2: Non-target school (1 semester)

- School 3: Transferring to MBB target school in Fall 2025

Questions:

  1. “Unofficial transcript” in the application form: Do you advise submitting transcripts from all attended schools, or just the latest one?  i.e., transcript from the 2nd school - non-target school for one semester, with transfer credits from the 1st target school?

  1. Regarding “official transcripts”, does McKinsey require the “official” transcript later in the process? If so, do they require transcripts from all schools attended or just the most recent school?

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hi there,

that's a very specific question, I recommend that you reach out immediately to HR to see what they need to know.

Good luck!

Best,

Hi there,

1. if the grades have been transferred to your home school (I.e., you’ve been on exchange at a non-target and the grades have been recognised by your main, target school), I think it should be sufficient to send it as unofficial transcript. If additional courses are listed on the other school’s transcript, I’d send that too.

2. If an official transcript is requested by HR later in the process, I’d ask HR which ones they would like to receive. My guess is that they’d like to have all of the documents.

All the best!

Kind regards

Kevin

Thanks for your insights. I have a quick follow up question:

Background:

School 2 (Non-target): Attended Spring 2025, 4.0 GPA. Transcript includes course names and credits transferred from School 1, but not GPA.

School 1 (Target): Attended Fall 2023–Fall 2024, GPA: 3.84.

I’ve listed both schools and both GPAs on my resume and application. Since McKinsey often scan for target school affiliations during the initial resume screen, my question is:

Will listing School 1 (target) with GPA on my resume be sufficient for them to categorize me as a target school applicant, or do I need to submit the transcript from School 1 as well to be evaluated in the target school pool?

Thanks so much!

In that case, I’d submit both. GPA is great and your main school is a target school. Don’t worry too much about it being “diluted”.

Thanks for your insights again! I wonder which school's recruiter will be assigned to review my materials in my case at this moment?
- School 1: MBB target school (Fall 2023- Fall 2024) GPA 3.84
- School 2: Non-target school (Spring 2025 semester) GPA 4.0
- School 3: Transferring to Target school ( Fall 2025 - Spring 2027 - Graduate date)
Thanks again.

Hi there,

If possible, to avoid any confusion, submit all transcripts. Official transcripts can typically be requested on the online platform of the university and are issued within days (if not hours in some cases). At least this way you save yourself a headache.

Feel free to also send an email to the recruiter to verify, but if they don't get back to you, then I'd go for the strategy mentioned above.

Best,
Cristian
