How does the application process work when you apply to multiple offices?

I know MBB gives you the option to list offices by order of preference.

Do you get one aptitude test for all offices? If you pass that, do you have to do the interview process for each office individually?

If so, it would seem applying to multiple offices makes it much more likely you’ll get a successful outcome. I’m referring to applying to your home office and then to an office where most consultants are foreigners (eg. Dubai/Saudi).

Hi there,

You will be one test. Then, you will do the interview for one office

You basically get one shot at the office that you're selected for (if you're selected).

Remember to case prep before you apply as well!

Hello,

You will only have to do one aptitude test. Your application will then get passed onto your first choice office. If they decide to interview you, you will go through the process there. If not, your application will be passed onto your second choice office, who will then decide whether they want to interview you or not, and so on. Essentially, at any given point you will only be going through the recruiting process with 1 office, but all of your preferences will be considered within that.

Hi there,

1) Do you get one aptitude test for all offices?

No, if you pass the screening you will be selected for one of the offices and will have the process with them only.

2) If you pass that, do you have to do the interview process for each office individually?

Same as above, you are going to interview with one office only.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hi there,

  1. Online Test: you'll do the test only once for all offices - it's tracked centrally
  2. Interviews: offices will look at your application in the order of office preference. E.g. First to review is priority 1 office - if they like your profile, they'll invite you. If not, they'll pass it one to priority 2 and so on

Let me add that in terms of application, I strongly recommend you come in with a referral in the office of choice. In the current hiring situation, I'd not suggest you just apply through the online tool - strong referrals will significantly boost your chances of getting invited.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Andi

Hi!

That's a great question that not enough people ask.

The ‘office ranking’ field is a rather antiquated thing.

Realistically in +90% of cases you application just goes to the first office. They either accept it or reject it. Then that's it. You can then apply once again in a year from now.

Only in the situation when the first preference office either:

  • isn't hiring anymore in that period

OR

  • notices that you definitely belong in a different geography

will they forward your application to the next office.

So no, you don't have more chances if you put more office there. Make sure that your top office in the list is the actual one you'd want to go to.

Last but not least, build a proper application strategy. You can use the following free guide to do it:
