Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, when answering the question about your non-academic achievements, it's important to first identify the dimensions and, within those, the experiences that highlight your unique skills and qualities. These could be related to any activities or hobbies where you have accomplished something noteworthy. However, please keep in mind that it is not so much about the specific achievements themselves, but rather about the transferable skills you developed and demonstrated in achieving them.
  • Moreover, I would advise you put equal focus on how to structure your answer. When talking about different experiences, maybe even stemming from different dimensions, you should thoroughly introduce the interviewer into your structure of thinking about the question.
  • Lastly, it would be great if you could provide a proposal, so that I can provide feedback on it, since I cannot provide a specific answer to the question either way without knowing about your non-academic achievements in detail.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

When answering the question about your non-academic achievements it's essential to highlight accomplishments that demonstrate  skills, qualities, and experiences that align with a strategy consulting firm. In particular, look for experiences that showcase skills such as problem-solving, leadership, teamwork, communication, analytical thinking, and adaptability.

Include a diverse range of achievements to demonstrate versatility and well-roundedness. These achievements can come from extracurricular activities, volunteer work, internships, personal projects, competitions, or any experiences outside of your academic pursuits.

Highlight instances where you took the initiative or assumed leadership roles. Consulting firms often seek individuals who can lead and drive projects forward.

If applicable, mention achievements that reflect your ability to learn and grow from challenges or failures. Consultants are expected to be continuous learners and adapt to new situations.

Remember, your response should be authentic, specific, and tailored to your unique experiences. It's an opportunity to showcase how your achievements have prepared you to be an asset to the strategy consulting firm.

Hi there,

Just honestly ask yourself that questions and honestly answer it.

What is it that you're most proud of?

Maybe it has to do with helping a family member.

Maybe it's about volunteering.

Maybe it's about standing up for somebody in a weaker position.

The most important thing is to be genuine, authentic about it and share that story in detail.

Feel free to reach out and we can carve out these stories together. This is one of the areas that I enjoy the most about coaching.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

there can be many ways you can express such achievements, and every candidate will come with different experience. In either case, pick examples that exemplifies high ambition, strong drive, and a decent degree of resilience and good team spirit.

Typically, such examples can be found in different fields

  • Sports
  • Entrepreneurial ventures
  • Impact in past corporate settings
  • Competitions (e.g. case-competitions but also others)
  • Volunteering & leadership activities
  • Personal experiences / challenges you had to overcome (but be careful - don't use “uncomfortable” examples)
  • Etc.

In essence, it doesn't matter so much which area you choose, as long as the company sees that you bring the qualities they are looking for.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Andi

Well, think about your non-academic activies in life. Then, think about which ones were achievements.

The could be work related, personal venture related, sports related, hobby related, relationship related, language/living abroad related, etc.
