Entrepreneurial Drive PEI

Entrepreneurial Drive PEI - do I need to include a teamwork component or is it fine if it is just a minor one and I talk about how I managed it by myself?

Ex-McK Experienced Hire and EM - I show you how to perform at your best

Hi there,

While teamwork generally implies a more powerful story, that is less true in the Entrepreneurial Drive section.  The reason is that the interviewer will likely ask, “And what specifically did YOU do?” to focus on your specific ability to set and pursue goals, desire to make a difference, and use of practical judgement in order to achieve the same.

If you are working as part of a team, you need to make that clear.

Hope that helps.  Happy to explain more.

Best,

Allen

Hello!

It´s not a must, since there are plenty of very good Entrepreneurial Drive examples that are mostly an individual effort.

However, every story at the end is a like a self marketing campaign, and you should enrich it as much as possible to let the interviewers get to know you. Hence, I do recommend including team interaction as much as possible in the story.

If you want to deep dive on the topic, the "Integrated FIT guide for MBB" has been recently published in PrepLounge´s shop (https://www.preplounge.com/en/shop/tests-2/integrated-fit-guide-for-mbb-34)

It provides an end-to-end preparation for all three MBB interviews, tackling each firms particularities and combining key concepts review and a hands-on methodology. Following the book, the candidate will prepare his/her stories by practicing with over 50 real questions and leveraging special frameworks and worksheets that guide step-by-step, developed by the author and her experience as a Master in Management professor and coach. Finally, as further guidance, the guide encompasses over 20 examples from real candidates.

Furthermore, you can find 3 FREE Expert Articles on PreLounge, in a sreies dedicated to preparing for the different parts of FIT:

2. https://www.preplounge.com/en/articles/motivational-fit-interview-questions

3. https://www.preplounge.com/en/behavioral-interview-questions

Feel free to PM me for disccount codes for the Integrated FIT Guide, since we still have some left from the launch

Hope it helps!

Hello there,

Entrepreneurial drive doesn't have to include team, it is about your ability to be

  • an independent thinkers (having vision and big picture, able to take a few steps ahead and develop the initial idea);
  • you are not afraid to start new projects and being responsible for them (and eventually a team),
  • you trust your judgement.

So just think about an instance when you showed those traits and tell a compelling story.

Good luck,

Lucie

Hi there,

Teamwork is not a must for entrepreneurial drive. Instead, you should focus on how you set yourself a target and then methodically reached that goal in creative ways while facing challenges along your path.

Best,

Cristian

A story without a team component is fine but considering the profession, it’s always encouraging to hear stories of a candidate working effectively with others and having impact beyond themselves.  Its just a story that resonates more and is relatable.  There‘s no prerequisite of consulting experience, of course, but don‘t forget that your interviewer is looking for a story that is transferable to you being a successful McKinsey consultant.

Hi there,

Perfectly fine to not have teamwork (Entrepreneurial drive is about you and your hustle/initiative). That said, it doesn't hurt to have some teamwork/partnership sprinkled in.

If it includes a team work component (or getting other people on board) it becomes a more powerful story.

Hey there,

You do not need to have a team involved in a Drive story. If you have a team, it's more important to highlight

  • how you engaged the people to help you achieve YOUR goal
  • that the team was supplementing YOUR actions.
