Can people on educational leave at MBB give referrals?

If someone is being sponsored by their MBB firm for an MBA, and they are currently doing their MBA, can they still give you a referral? Do they have access to company systems whereby they could refer you?

Hi there!

There might be slight variations by geography/office, but by default the answer is yes.

In most offices the referral process is not even ‘system’-based. It's rather the referee emailing HR with your contact details and mentioning why they believe you'd be a good fit.

If you're struggling to get referrals, you can also leverage LinkedIn. You can use the following guide that explains how to use LinkedIn to identify referees and then ask for a referral:

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

Ask them.

The best way to find out is to ask them directly!

Now, while they *should* be able to, remember that this would be the lowest referral possible (as in, they are still an analyst at the firm). So, they are not at the level, in my opinion, where you would be done with your recruiting efforts so to speak.

Hello,

The best thing is to ask them, or ask HR at the relevant firm.

I believe the answer to this question is no, you can't refer someone if you're currently doing your MBA, but quite honestly I'm not totally sure and it may vary by firms.
