BCG Cover Letter

Hi there, I hope all are well!

A few questions about writing a BCG cover letter for the London office.

1. What font is best?

2. What font size is best?

3. How should I head the letter (e.g. in a proper letter format?)

4. Who should I address the letter to if I do not have a specific contact?

5. Yours faithfully or yours sincerely at the end?

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

All the best!

Hi,

Here are my thoughts on your question

1. What font is best?

  • This is a personal preference but pick something that you -think- is the most readable
  • I used to use Garamond

2. What font size is best?

  • I would use 12, the aim here is to make it as readable as possible for the reviewer

3. How should I head the letter (e.g. in a proper letter format?)

  • Like Ian mentioned - you can't describe this. Plenty of free templates available online

4. Who should I address the letter to if I do not have a specific contact?

  • I would address it to the Recruiting Manager

5. Yours faithfully or yours sincerely at the end?

  • Sincerely probably, if not Regards/Best Regards is fine

Hi there,

1. What font is best?

Any “classic” one (Times New Roman, Calibri)

2. What font size is best?

12. 11 is fine too

3. How should I head the letter (e.g. in a proper letter format?)

Impossible ot type this. You want a professional header. It needs to look good.

4. Who should I address the letter to if I do not have a specific contact?

Dear Hiring Manager

5. Yours faithfully or yours sincerely at the end?

Don't love “faithfully”. I would just say Sincerely, and add a signature

I highly recommend you invest in a template and online resources. Also, please make sure you are mass producing the cover letters. There are ways to set up this so that you can write a cover letter for each firm in just 20 minutes and rinse and repeat. Don't re-invent the wheel every time!
