What is a meeting?

In a meeting, two candidates practice and simulate a consulting case interview online via video or audio call. In the first round, one case partner will take the role of the interviewer, whereas the other one will take the role of the candidate. A case usually takes 45 minutes and then roles are switched. A back-to-back meeting, therefore, lasts about 90 minutes. After the interview, candidates should give each other feedback, as this will help them learn and improve their performance.

What happens when I accept a meeting?

By accepting an open invitation, you agree to participate in a 90-minute meeting in which you will take on both roles, interviewer and interviewee, one after the other. Once you have accepted the invitation, you will find it on Your Meetings. If you are tied up at short notice and cannot attend the meeting, please inform your case partner and cancel the meeting.

How can I schedule meetings with other candidates?

There are two quick ways to schedule meetings on PrepLounge: add a proposal to the Meeting Board or send a private invitation.
  1. On the Meeting Board, you'll see lots of proposals for case interview meetings and can simply accept one of the open invitations. If none of the suggested times work for you, add your own meeting proposal to the list and wait for another candidate to confirm the meeting.
  2. In the Case Partner Listing, you'll get an overview of potential practice partners. With the help of search filters, you can sort the list according to your needs and find suitable candidates for your case interview preparation. On the profile of a candidate, you can send a direct invitation by using the “Propose Meeting” button.

How much does a meeting cost?

As a Basic Member, you can try out up to 10 meetings for free. For unlimited meetings and full access to the extensive preparation materials on PrepLounge, you can upgrade to Premium here.

How can I prepare for my meeting?

During a meeting you will take on both roles as an interviewee and an interviewer.

Before you start with your first meeting, you should get familiar with the general procedure of case interviews. Read our Case Interview Basics and solve some cases from our Case Library by yourself. Once you have understood the general approach to cases, you can start practicing right away.

The interviewer's role entails guiding the interviewee through the case. It is, therefore, crucial to read and prepare the case beforehand. This means familiarizing yourself with the problem as well as the suggested approach. As soon as your meeting is approved by both partners, you can see it on the Meeting Board under “Your Meetings”. You can either prepare the pre-selected case, select another case or use your own case for the interview.

Where does the meeting take place?

Once the meeting is approved by both sides, you can look it up in the Meeting Board under “Your Meetings” and will find a link to the Meeting Room there.

The Meeting Room connects you with your case partner. You can either use the integrated video function to connect or agree on another external provider (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet, etc.). Since the case is interfaced, you will be able to use the content together with your case partner and can share exhibits, charts, etc. during the course of the meeting.

Where can I see my scheduled meetings?

You will find your upcoming meetings as well as open meeting invitations in the Meeting Board under “Your Meetings”.

How can I cancel or reschedule a meeting?

You will find your upcoming meetings as well as open meeting invitations in the Meeting Board under “Your Meetings”. Click on “Date doesn’t suit you?” and select another date or cancel the meeting in the upcoming window.
