Written cases

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any written cases to practice? Preferably real ones at MBBs.

Much appreciated!

Hey there,

Which region are you applying to for the MBBs? Have you checked with their recruiting functions if indeed you'll be doing written case as part of your interview journey? MBBs don't usually do written cases unless there are very specific and rare cases they make exception for

I may be able to point you out to some written case resources. DM me directly please

All the best

Hey!

Written cases are not typically part of MBB recruitment; you might be referring to case books or practice materials. I recommend using case books from consulting clubs (like HBS or LBS) and platforms like PrepLounge, which offer a wide range of case studies tailored to MBB standards. If you're looking for exercises that simulate written or "candidate-led" cases, those are often about structuring and synthesizing solutions quickly, and consulting prep platforms can help with these skills. Let me know if you'd like further guidance!

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the (presumed) invitation!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, please keep in mind that neither McKinsey nor BCG nor Bain, with the exception of a few Asian Bain offices, use written case studies in their application processes.
  • Moreover, still, one written case study that I like is Monitor Deloitte's "Footloose" case study.
  • Lastly, since only the communication/presentation part of written case studies is different, I would highly advise you to prepare exactly as you would for regular case studies.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming pre-interview assessments and/or interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen
