Hi there!
Basically, post covid, most of the firms starting returning to the client site.
However, there's significantly more flexibility than before.
In practice, that means that it's not ‘expected’ any longer to be physically there. And there's significantly more trust associated with working from away.
Still, this differs from project to project.
The differences are not so much between firms, but rather between the agreements that the project team has with the client.
The most important thing to have on your mind is that you should make whatever is important to you clear to the team and see how you could accommodate for it.
Best,
Cristian

Hi Emanuele,
The honest answer is that this is completely dependent on country, office, role level, client, and leaderhsip (your engagement management, partner etc.)
There is now much more flexibility post-covid, but you should expect to have to be in person to a varying degree.
Regardless, to advance your career, regardless of the rules please 100% be in person as much as possible….those who work remote get promoted far more slowly and are more likely to be pushed out.
It's going to completely depend on what the agreement is with the client and the culture at the office you are applying to. Most offices and teams are back in-person, that said, there might be fewer touchstones with a client team or more latitude on specific projects to work from home.
Hello,
Remote working at McKinsey differs study to study. Majority of McKinsey offices do not have mandatory in-person policies, and it will depend on what your team has decided amongst themselves and what clients would like.
Majority of studies are now more flexible, with hybrid models that allow for partial remote work.
Depends on the project.
Here's the thing about consulting: your work day revolves around the client and project needs and not the other way around.
So in some cases it is possible. In many other cases, it is not - depends on client and project.
If you are at a junior level, I suggest that you keep remote work to a minimum in order to maximize your learning experience and network.
