Should I do it

Currently as a BA I want to leave deloitte, I started January and honestly the pay sucks. Its not about the workload because its manageable and I am getting great experience. I will ask my friends in MBB and tier 2 to refer in the end of summer. Do you think I will have a shot at getting an interview? I am not asking if I will pass just if I will get an interview?

It's difficult to say without having a look at your CV (e.g., education, achievements, how well CV is crafted) - but generally speaking having consulting experience in the region is favorable. Your chances will also depend on the hiring targets of MBB firms for next year and whether the consulting market picks up.

Hi there,

Q: Do you think I will have a shot at getting an interview?

We would need some more information to assess your profile (e.g., GPA, previous experience if any, whether you graduated from a target school or not).

Assuming:

  1. You have a strong profile,
  2. You are working on projects comparable to those of MBB
  3. CV and cover are in the correct consulting format and
  4. Your friends do provide a referral

You should have a reasonable chance.

Good luck!

Hi there,

You may have a shot depending on your total CV content, especially with strong referrals and solid experience. Deloitte is a known brand, so that is already a positive point.
Use the time to polish your resume, deepen relationships, and prep well so you're ready to apply by end of summer.

I can also help you sharpen your CV, which is key since it's often the first filter in getting interviews, especially when referrals are involved. Happy to support you!

Best,

Mari

hey there!

Yes, you likely do have a shot at getting interviews — especially if you’re at Deloitte in a core consulting role (e.g. S&O, Monitor, or equivalent) and have solid performance + strong referrals.

MBB and Tier 2 firms do value experience at firms like Deloitte, and starting in Jan means you’ll have ~8 months under your belt by end of summer — enough to show traction, especially with strong networking.

Just make sure your CV clearly shows impact, and prep well to make your referrals count. You’re on the right path!

Hi there,

Depends on many factors you did not mention (schools, degrees, GPAs, experience outside of school, other work experience, geographic context).

Generally, yes people do move from Deloitte to T2 and MBB, if certain prereqs are met.

Cheers,

Florian

Hi there,

Did you apply to MBB and tier 2 before when you were doing recruiting for this current job? If so, you would need to see if you have passed the ban period for re-application.

If you didn't, it is okay to apply. However, as an interviewer I would wonder why the candidate decides to leave the job in such a short time. You would need a good story to explain that and money alone could be a bit thin...

Of course needless to say you'd need to make sure your profile looks really great on your resume as well, to get an interview.

Best,

Emily

Hi,

Since I don’t have your CV, I’m going to make a few assumptions:

  • You’re already at a top auditing firm, which means you’ve got a background in accounting, finance, or something similar.
  • You’re doing well because the workload is manageable and you’re learning a lot.
  • You're going to get a referral (HUGE factor).

Based on those three points, I’d say you definitely have a shot at getting an interview!

Here’s what I recommend in the meantime to strengthen your chances:

  1. Tailor your CV: Highlight your achievements at Deloitte, showcase your leadership skills, and emphasize any initiatives you’ve taken.
  2. Network! A lot of people have made the move from Deloitte to MBB, so find them on LinkedIn! Reach out! I’m a big believer in the power of cold emails/LinkedIn messages.
    • Ask them how best to prepare.
    • Ask about your local office’s recruiting timelines.
    • Ask if you can have a chat - people often say yes!
  3. Make the most of your time at Deloitte: Take on leadership roles, attend recruiting events, network, and build relationships with leadership. Use this time to grow both your experience and your list of accomplishments.
  4. Start case prepping: Begin the journey - gather resources and talk to friends. Prepping while working full-time can be tough, so pace yourself. When interview time comes, you’ll be ready. (It took me about 1 to 2 months to go from zero cases to being interview-ready.)

Good luck!

You gave very limited information. Getting into Delloitte means you have some chances, but does not necessarily mean you fit their target profile and that a recommendation will suffice.

We need more information to be able to evaluate.
