Operating Model Cases

Hi PrepLounge Community,

I would like to prep for BCGs Organization Strategy Team, which Cases are the most important for this area. Also, which cases represent Operating Model cases. Last year I was searching for these kind of cases to prep for the Operating Model Team at Accenture and couldn´t find some.

Happy for any kind of help!

Hi

This case archetype isn’t that common in an interview setting as it is typically a bit harder to assess both conceptual and analytical problem solving ability. You may get some components of spans and layers mixed into a traditional case type but not traditionally the focus (at least not in my experience).

I would suggest preparing to ace ANY case, then during the interview process, or once successful, express your keen interest in op model projects.

Good luck!

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • Purely based on the team’s name and the topic “operating model”, focus on cases that delve into reorganization, change management, and strategic transformation. However, if you want to know for certain, I would advise you to conduct the research yourself by having a look at BCG’s organization landing page.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

I am not aware of a particular case in this regard.

However, you should be comfortable with any case type, context, or industry.

The trick is to learn the right approach to problem-solving, thinking techniques, and communication. If you internalize this well, the impact of the case type on your performance is minuscule!

Cheers,

Florian

Would love to get some guidance on this as well.

I've been trying to find (fairly unsuccessfully) some examples as I'm preparing for specific op model case studies in similar teams.
