Hi there,

I've been invited to the OC&C only test which includes 2 sections: numerical, logical reasoning etc. and a written test.

Can anyone please provide advice on what these involve and how to prep?

Hi there!

It might have changed, but my most up-to-date knowledge is that it is a 45 minute quant test to ascertain your math and critical thinking skills. It's a screening test which determines whether you will move forward with the interview process.

The best way to practice is to really find online tests / questions and practice. Regardless as to whether is a new or old test, the principles are mostly the same across these quant screening tests:

  • Time management (need to think quick)
  • Business knowledge/context (incl key formulas)
  • Critical thinking (answers that are very similar to each other...clues "hidden" in the text)
  • Ability to interpret data/charts

Think of it as a merge of a case and the GMAT/GRE. You need to be clear on some key case-related and account formulas (margin, growth, breakeven, etc) as well as be good at critically understanding the question (including nuance to questions) and parsing through complicated text with a fair amount of distraction. You'll also need to be good at chart/graph reading. The (old) McKinsey PST, BCG Online Test, Bain SOVA test, etc. are all quite similar so leverage resources across all of them.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the invitation from OC&C!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, while I cannot provide any additional information on the written part, the numerical and logical reasoning parts of the OC&C pre-interview assessment are pretty standard.
  • Moreover, regarding preparation, obviously, I would advise you to practice numerical and logical reasoning tests. There are many platforms available where you can access mock tests.
  • Lastly, since the assessment has a restricted time format, I would highly advise you to practice these mock tests within the given time frame. This helps in managing time effectively and improves the speed of answering.

You can find more on this topic here: Speed reading techniques.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there!

Yes - happy to share a few examples. Feel free to reach out.

Basically, all these tests are very similar. They all test the basic skills that you would need to display in the interview anyway. They want to understand whether you have these skills at the minimum level necessary to make it worth interviewing you.

Best,
Cristian

There is a striking similarity between all of these exams. They all evaluate the same fundamental abilities that you'd be expected to demonstrate during the interview otherwise. They want to know if your proficiency with these areas is sufficient to warrant an interview. geometry dash
