Hi,
I am looking at the hierarchy of positions at McKinsey specifically for an internal role in India.
I am being offered Senior Analyst role after 5.8 years of experience in Big4.
Is it worthed?

Hi there,
Only you can decide if it's worth it.
If it were me? I'd take it - the brand + networking potential is amazing.
However, remember that there are many other factors (current happiness, role, peers, salary, etc.)
You've been offered what you've been offered….can't change it just have to decide what you value and what's worth it!
Hi there!
The ‘hierarchy’ for internal roles differs a lot from region to region and even office to office (not to mention practice to practice), so I'm afraid I can't help you with a straightforward answer.
Even for client-facing consultant roles, the timelines for promotions between roles and how much experience you need for some roles depends between geographies. For instance, most offices have a direct transition from BA to Associate, while in other countries you have BA intern, BA, Senior BA, Junior Associate, Associate. It takes almost double the time to get from BA to Associate.
My recommendation would be to speak with people in your target office who are in a similar role as the one you're going for. They will have a much better understand on whether it's a good deal or not. You can use the following guide to lead the conversation with them:
Last but not least, you can expect usually to go one level down if you move from Big4 to McKinsey, so reflect on whether this is also the case with the offer they made.
Best,
Cristian

Hi there,
This sounds about right. You will be Associate in no time, which is what recent MBAs are offered. You're not an MBA and 5.8 years in a big 4 is just short of compensating for the fact.
More importantly, however, I would just ignore the hierarchy. Who cares where you start, so long as you focus on moving up (and not out…). This happens very quickly, and the sky is the limit if you're committed and do well.
Hope this helps a bit. Best of luck!
Moritz
Hi there,
Q: I am being offered Senior Analyst role after 5.8 years of experience in Big4. Is it worth?
It depends on your goals. If McKinsey allows you to reach your long-term goal, it could make sense even if they recognize a limited number of years of seniority. If you don’t have a specific goal, it could still be worth it for the additional exit opportunities that it will allow.
Best,
