Junior Associate McKinsey Middle East offices

At which level would the junior associate be at McK ME offices? What are the salary range for this position? and how is that different for the associate/ senior associate salaries.

Also, I have 5-6 years of experience and currently doing my masters at a target school with a really good GPA so far.
Would it be reasonable to ask for an associate/ senior associate,  If i receive a offer?

Should I indicate that early on in the hiring process or should I keep it until I receive an offer? so far I have done only the test and an HR call to plan for the first round next week.

Hello,

The salary will depend on the office, and I fully agree with Emily's explanation of JA position. I think you could have a conversation about coming in as an associate. You could discuss this with the recruiting representatives at your school if you would be interested in doing something like that.

Hi there,

  1. Based on your years of experience, you should definitely be hired for a Sr Associate position or an Associate role with fast track promotion window to Sr Asc.
  2. For salaries, check Glassdoor for the Middle East and keep in mind that recently there was a salary increase across the region.

Cheers,

Florian

Thanks for the reply. 1- should I mention that in the first round of interviews? And what would be your best way to do that? 2- My experience is in the industry with fast & high growth startups in a business related function - 4 years in a managerial position, and also my masters is not an MBA, it's business-related however it's a MSc. Given these information do you believe I should aim for associate/senior associate?

Here are my 2 cents from the one who got the offer recently: 1. Before the first round. Call or arrange a call and discuss such an option with recruiter in advance having good reasoning. Bringing good candidates to the Firm is the main KPI of HRs. They would be happy to provide you the fast track if you are top-candidate. 2. Definitely. MBA gives you no incomparable advances while already having experience, especially taking that MBA holders then concentrate on a particular side of the business (marketing, finances, some linear management, etc).

Hi there,

I agree with Florian. You are very much Associate or, possibly, sr. associate. It may come down to their evaluation of your resume, or may even come down to your interview performance itself. I believe the salary is around $150k but that was from a candidate I had 6 months ago - this might have changed now.

Hi there,

Generally the JA (junior associate) roles are used for those who don't have an MBA but do have a lot of work experience. This has been phased out as a role in the USA offices, but is still in place in Europe and the Middle East. Generally JAs start on a salary between BAs and Associates, but are expected to progress to Associate much faster than BAs.

You can ask for an Associate role (there is never any harm in asking!) but I suspect the office rules will keep you as a JA.

Good luck!
