Hi guys,

I had my undergrad degree from Columbia University in the U.S. and am now considering doing a master's there. Since there are a number of firms that do not sponsor visa in the U.S., like Oliver Wyman, Accenture, etc., I'm wondering am I able to apply for their locations in the U.K.? Given that I'll not have a Tier 4 student visa and will need sponsorship for Tier 2.

Thanks and appreciate any inputs!

Hi Michael,

Yes, you can apply to UK offices, but make sure you understand the visa process & requirements. Most students after studies (in UK) are now going for the 2-year post study work visa to allow more time for job hunt. After that 2-year period, they switch to a Tier 2 sponsored visa. If you dont study in UK, you will need sponsorship straight away. Most big Consulting companies sponsor but its certainly not an easy thing post Brexit. So, factor plenty of time for this.

All the best. Let me know if you need more intel from on the ground here in UK.

My suggestion is to check with the school career service because this is a question to which most "experts" here cannot answer if not with opinions (while you need facts for such an important decision).

Besides, do not focus only on chances of landing an offer, think also about what you'll learn.

Good luck.

Hi Michael,

The short answer is yes you are. A few of my fellow Stern classmates without UK citizenship/visas were hired in the UK via school recruiting.

That said, you need to check with your school's recruiting office and the companies in question. Every company is going to be different and have a different policy.
