How is it different to be an Associate Consultant in Bain vs Business Analyst in McKinsey (EMEA)?

I'd be interested in knowing differences in:

- culture

 - ways of working

- hours

- perks

- International trainings

- staffing model

It might be helpful if you also clarify to us your objective for trying to understand these differences.

That said, here is my take below:

  • Culture: MBB are known to have good culture overall - with subtle differentiators that cannot be explained. Your best bet would be to speak with current people there and ask them insightful questions about the culture.
  • Ways of working: Not sure what you mean to ask here. If you are talking about manner of project execution - then its broadly the same as well.
  • Hours: Depends on the project, manager, partner, other team members etc. But definitely does not depend on the company. If it is bad, it can be bad anywhere. If it is good, it can be good anywhere.
  • Perks: This should be similar as well - broadly depending on office location. Again, best to ask an existing employee in the region of your choice.
  • International trainings: Should broadly be the same. I suspect McK might have a higher focus on trainings v/s Bain. But that is a personal opinion.
  • Staffing model: Again broadly the same.

Hi!

Can you give us more context? For example, do you have a specific office in mind?

Best,
