Hi everyone,

So I had my final decision round yesterday for internship with MBB and the interviewer said see you in the internship. We had a lot of intellectual discussion, he said the case was good and we kept on discussing for a long time like climate change, nuclear energy, etc.
Should I expect a positive reply?
P.S. I really loved the intellectual discussion and it was very fun to talk. The discussion we had was very stimulating and engaging.

Many congratulations on the great interview.

As for your question - one of my favorite quotes for life is "expectations reduce joy' - the more you expect, the less happy you will be with any outcome. I know it is not very helpful as a direct answer but hopefully you can use this waiting time to do some fun things you have missed out on while preparing for the interview process.

If the interviewer said exactly “see you in the internship” it means that he wants to extend you an offer.

Of course, I guess you had multiple interviews in that round, and the other interviewer would have to agree.

Overall seems positive, but it's not the final decision.

[Please note that for internships this doesn't work on a rolling basis, meaning that there is a limited number of openings and they will need to do some sort of ranking if they decide to give out much more offers that openings, although this is usually not an issue].

He said "see you in the internship man" and then we waved goodbye. Do you think he is gonna give me a pass? I only had one interview in my decision round and 1 in round 1. What do you think are my chances? Just nervous on this :)

That's an informal way of saying you passed the interview without saying it in an official way.

Hi John,

Love Udayan's response - it's spot on. It's great to be excited for things…don't lose that! but also please always set expectations. Also remember that MBB is not the end-all-be-all.

It sounds very promising! I personally am optimistic based on what you said (but remember, this is based on your perspective which, with human nature, always has to be understood to be biased/not objective).

Make sure to keep applying and interviewing with other firms. And, remember, even getting to final round is quite the accomplishment.

Fingers crossed for you!

Hi there,

you left the interview with a positive feeling which is great. It also seems like the interviewer was fond of you. You will find out whether the reply is positive once you get it - as unsatisfactory as that may sound.
Nobody but the interviewer really knows what they intended with the comment so we can only guess.

But fingers crossed that you get the offer

Hi,

That sounds like great feedback! It's definitely a plus point and positive to hear the interview say that.

Unfortunately nothing is guaranteed until you hear the final official decision. So, I would wait for it before celebrating :)

Hi John,

Q: The interviewer said see you in the internship. Should I expect a positive reply?

It definitely looks positive. Still, there is no guarantee it is a pass. Also, if you had other interviews, you will be assessed also based on them.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hey John,

It certainly looks positive. Of course, this particular interviewer needs to align with the other interviewers to reach the final decision, so hope it works out for you in the end.

Good luck!
Nick
