from consultant to knowledge center analyst

Hi all,

First, thank you to all people for having time to answer my previous comments regarding the fact that I have been pushed out from 2 tiers-2 consulting companies in M&A practice. I am interviewing for a position in the knowledge center Transaction, M&A practice for one of MBB. I would like to know if it is a good fit to move from a senior consultant to a knowledge center analyst. Do I have the possibility to move back to a full-time consultant position later?

Thank you a lot,

Anonymously

Hello,

Those kind of transitions are typically very difficult as the skillset the company is looking for is widely different between the two positions and the recruitment process as well.

If your end goal is to join the consulting track at an MBB, I wouldn't recommend joining as a Knowledge Center Analyst first. If you want to do M&A consulting work and only that, I would recommend applying to the Expert Track for M&A in the MBB.

Happy to chat if you have more questions about this.
Cheers

Hi there,

Again, sorry to hear about your situation.

Now, I must be blunt and say that this is technically a "downgrade". It's easy to move into the knowledge center analyst role. It will be incredibly difficult to move back to consultant.

If your end goal is to continue being a consultant, you should not take this offer but rather look for other companies hiring consultant roles.

Hello!

You are most welcome :)

As commented in previous posts, unfortunately, and if you want to work in consulting, I would say it´s kind of a "downgrade"

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

Hi, I confirm it is challenging to move to consulting roles later, but never say never. I worked with a knowledge expert in McK who spend several days a week with the teams at the client and who received multiple invitations to move to operation practice.

Best,
Antonelo
