Complementary to what Ian said, I would advise you not to worry too much about it as your rationale seems to make a lot of sense, especially compared to other considerations.

Hi there,
I've spent quite a while trying to figure this out myself, and I'm not entirely sure. Your 24 hours/day, 8 hour shift rationale is the most logical explanation.
Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about this…this case was confusing even for me - which indicates something!
