There are a lot of coaches for case preparation, interview and getting the offer.

Does anyone know good resources or coaches or websites that can help with on-the-job performance both soft skills and hard skills?

Important point: for someone who is working in the industry, but would like to apply a consulting approach to projects

Hi Anonymous,

Definitely yes. Glad that you are thinking on those lines. Will explain why this is important.

Most of the consultants who joined my team from top Ivy League B-Schools were no doubt smart but didnt hit the ground running. The reason being that we are still taught mostly theory in b-schools and there is a huge gap to bridge between stuff taught at b-schools and what finds application on the job, more so in consulting world.

Secondly people working in industries want to grow fast but dont know what is the path. Key is to take up strategic projects within your workspace but key is how do you do it and will you be able to do a justice to the project even if you volunteer for the same. Taking up a strategic project and ensuring it is successful is a tough task and need different skills. E.g. a front line sales manager is doing well in term of numbers and growing ok in his career but can he volunteer to lead a key strategic project being rolled out in sales function, something like a Sales Transformation or Sales effectiveness. Most of the people dont have the skills and hence lack growth in their career.

This is exactly what I do. I mentor people working in the industry be it consulting or other industries to grow fast by shadowing them and mentoring them on how to think strategically and take up big initiatives to be there in the good books of management. Please feel free to contact me for a free session on how i do it and what are the programs I currently run.

Hope it helps.

Thanks

Hi,

Your question is unclear.

But if you are looking for some inspiration check out this book on Management Consulting which is one of my personal favs- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Management-Consultant-Mastering-Consultancy-Financial/dp/0273730878

The best way to learn consulting skills is to be a consultant.

If you are looking for career coaching advice broadly, shoot me a PM or write to coaches of your choice to discuss.

I'm not sure if I fully understand the question. So you're looking for someone that applies a consulting approach to projects...Isn't that a consultant?

Or are you looking for someone to discuss your general career ambitions, choices, etc.?

Clarification after the comment: For the first part (consultants) - there are a numerous independent consultants you can hire. If you ever hire one, make sure to check their backgrounds, because consultant is not a protected title and everybody can call themselves that. Linkedin provides a good start. There are allso firms like Eden McCallum that are basically a network of ex-MBB consultants offering their work as freelancers now.

Regarding career coaches: There are also countless coaches out there. Though this is probably not the right forum to find one. I'm sure I have some in my network, so if you're actually interested in contacts, feel free to PM me.

For persons like you I have developed a special program, which helps in your first 100 days in your career and long-term planning. It touches improving you hard skills (PPT, Excel, Storyline, Story Board, Document Structure), personal development in new working environment (like time management, mental health, right attitude, work-life balance), and also insight on how to select project, how project logistics works, how to communicate with stakeholders.

Also, I'm professional career coach with inetrnational certification (ICF), so I'm happy to share my knowledge and experience with you.

Do you have any questions?

Hi there,

I agree with Clara...most coaches here aren't just case coaches but career coaches!

I have a number of candidates who are either a) completely ready for their interviews and shift to career coaching b) ask for career coaching as part of a full session or c) already have offers and are looking for dedicated career coaching.

Feel free to shoot me a message and I'm more than happy to talk through how I can support! (Again, feel free to reach out to any coach that catches your interest and inquire as to whether they can career coach as well!)

Highbridge academy is also a fantastic program worth looking into.

Hello!

I am sure many of the coaches here also do career coaching, but it´s not "tagged", hence I could not tell you how to find them.

In any case, if you are looking for this type of coaching, I am not sure if this page is the bst resource

Good luck!

Cheers,

Clara
