Can I apply to different offices of a company at the same time?

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

• Generally speaking, most consulting companies have global/ regional recruiting processes thus you will not be able to apply in different countries/ regions at the same time. However, most of them - among them Bain - will offer you to indicate office preferences.
• Still, and contradictory to what other coaches said, recruiting especially in Europe is a lot more national than one might expect (mainly for language reasons) resulting in the possibility to apply and interview for several offices at the same time. For instance, this is the case for UK and continental Europe as well as for German-speaking countries and Non-German-speaking countries.
• Eventually, I would advise you to just try to apply for different offices at the same time. In worst case, you will receive an answer indicating that this might not be feasible.

Hi Jasmin,

Yes you can (and have to) submit those preferences all at once in the same application. You only get one application per “round” (i.e. year/year and a half) so select those 3 offices when you apply!

Make sure to network and try to get a referral before applying in order to maximize your odds.

On the Bain application, they ask you for your office preferences, and you can chose up to three offices, in order of preference. So you cannot apply individually to those 3 offices, but you can apply to those 3 offices in a single application.

Q: If I want to apply to Bain London, Brussel, and Amsterdam. Can I send the application at the same time? Or if I went through the application process of Bain London at got rejected, can I immediately apply for another office?

You can usually express 3 preferences during the same application process, expressing a priority. If you are rejected from one office, you will be automatically considered for the following preference until all the offices have evaluated you.
