Dear Community,

I will have a call with MBB HR regarding the offer they gave me. I don't have an issue with the salary. So What topics are usually talked about during this call?

To make it clear, I requested this call to talk about professional development, starting date and unpaid leave. But what are other topics that I should consider ?

Thanks so much

Hi there,

Congrats on the offer!

Don't stress too much - the topics you have listed here are in line with what should be expected on the call.

Now it's just about logistics, so, ask your questions, and don't hesitate to call it off short if you've gotten your questions answered!

Hello,

Congratulations on your offer! Your question suggests that you initiated this call - in which case you just need to focus on the actual questions you have. I agree with Calvin that you don't need to be coming up with questions just to have topics to discuss. The areas you point out seem like important things to consider. You could also spend a bit of time reading over your contract and the terms & conditions once more to see if anything else jumps out at you.

If you're using this call as an opportunity to learn more about the position before signing the offer, I would also recommend reaching out to consultants in the office you got an offer for and asking them a bit more about their work life there.

Congrats!

No need to over think this…just keep it nice & relaxed and ask the main 3-5 questions on your mind e.g. starting/onboarding formalities, performance expectations, training & development, COVID protocols etc.

All the best.

Hi,

Focus on what is on your mind, be polite and get answers to the questions you have. There is no need to worry about what else to speak about. I would say write down the list of questions before hand so you don't forget it but other than that like the others have suggested here just get your doubts cleared.

Don't overthink. You requested the call - just go through with your current list of questions. You already must have made-up your mind - so why worry? This call will not lead to rejection or anything if you have already been offered the position.

Many congrats on your offer!

Firstly, please don't feel obliged to have many topics “just for the sake of having topics to discuss”. Anything that you think is important/ relevant is fine. One example could be a discussion on your project assignments, if you have any specific industries you are interested in.

Good luck! Have a great start

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the offer!

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I'm happy to give you my perspective on it:

  • Generally speaking, it is great that you take the initiative to approach HR if you have questions unanswered. A lot of coachees of mine initially do not dare to do so and end up in situation where time is short.
  • Irrespectable of your specific questions regarding professional development, starting date and unpaid leave, there is no need to fill time. The call should be about you and that you will feel safe and sound with your new employer.
  • In case you are trying to find out more about the position and the expecations of you, I would advise you to get in contact with current employees of the company. I would be more than happy to introduce you to people of my personal network.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare the upcoming HR call, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen
