BCG Waiting Time

I recently completed all my interview rounds with BCG for a Consultant position. Right after the final round, HR informed me that they would need about 2 weeks to share structured feedback.

It’s now been 4 weeks, and I haven’t received any updates yet.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Do I still stand a chance, or is silence a bad sign?

It’s not uncommon for BCG to take longer than expected, especially if multiple approvals are needed. 4 weeks of silence isn’t a great sign, but it doesn’t always mean rejection; you may still be under consideration or on a waitlist.

If you haven’t already, send a polite follow-up to HR. You still have a chance, but it’s worth keeping other options open too.

And yes, I have heard about such situations with BCG and other firms; it can happen. Not ideal, I know...

Let's keep hopes high and fingers crossed:-)

This happens frequently (having to wait 3-4 weeks).

But at this point, it makes sense to reach out to HR.

Having received an answer has absolutely no meaning regarding your chances of passing to the next stage.

Hi there!

This is not an uncommon occurrence, and until you get an answer, there is no way to say if you passed or not. Feel free to contact HR at this point to see if they have a new deadline.

Good luck!!

Mari

Hi,

4 weeks is quite long to wait for a reply. Sometimes the process can slip, but really you wouldn't know what is the real reason behind the delay.

I would follow up with HR and wait for the official response.

Hi there,

Q: Do I still stand a chance, or is silence a bad sign?

A total of 4 weeks after a final is not a great sign, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you will be rejected.

There could be multiple reasons for the delay:

  • Partners got busy and cannot align to provide feedback
  • HR got busy and cannot align to provide feedback
  • They want to conclude the process with the candidates in the pipeline
  • They want to align on the future project pipeline to define the exact recruiting needs

As next steps, you can:

  1. Assume the worst-case scenario that this is a rejection, and look for other firms
  2. Wait at least 1 week from the last follow-up, then reach out to HR for an update

Good luck!

Francesco
