Hi everyone,

Recently I took Bain sova test and I completed the test in 77 mins. However, in the email it was mentioned that approximately it should take 75 minutes.

In terms of accuracy I am sure I got 39 answers correct out of 45. Other 6 questions might be correct as I have guessed them.

Test includes Personality, Numerical, Verbal and Logical reasoning. I was very quick in some of the answers but I spent 10 minutes in last 2 questions just to get it right.

Does anyone have any idea about what is the passing percentage?

I have read one article where it was mentioned that if you have got 75% then you will likely get an interview.

Can anybody confirm if have any insights on this?

I have pretty strong CV with a Consultant referral if that matters.

Hi there,

I totally understand your desire to try to figure out how you did and your odds of success. It's human nature. But, it's fruitless!

Focus your energy and mind on things you can control at this point. Jump into case prep with the assumption you've passed. Working/thinking/writing about how well you did on this test will only serve to distract you from things that you can do to impact future outcomes.

Fingers crossed for you!

THIS REPLY IS FOR CURRENT CANDIDATES (2024) WHO HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR SOVA PERFORMANCE

Hi, I took the SOVA assessment and got invited to interview for the AC position at one of the ME offices, so I think I can help answer your question. I'll give you a breakdown of the timelines plus details of how I did on the test.

Timeline

  • Applied - Last week Oct 2023
  • SOVA invite - 5 days later
  • 1st round interview Invite email - Jan 2nd week
  • Interview dates - Late Feb

As for how I did in the SOVA assessment:

  • Total time - about 120 mins (much longer than recommended)
  • Accuracy - I'd say about 85 -90%

Like many answers from experts have alluded to already, the SOVA is evaluated together with the rest of your profile. Don't worry too much about the timing, as long as you didn't bomb the assessment and show significant weaknesses in the areas that are being assessed, you'll most likely get an an invite given that the rest of your profile meets the bar.

Hey there, I recently gave my Sova assessment test and I took a lot of time in solving logical reasoning questions

Just want to know what exactly were the steps after you gave this test?

It would be really helpful if I got some insight from a fellow Bain-test-giver

  • The Bain SOVA test is not ‘timed’ - however ‘time-taken' is also a parameter in evaluation.
  • Since you took 77min which is the typical time as indicated by them - you should be fine on that aspect
  • However, eventually you will only come to know the outcome once HR contacts you.
  • Typically expect 1 to 4 weeks of turnaround time. Do not start worrying if it has been 2 weeks and you haven't heard back. They will contact you regardless of a pass or fail. And the time to contact is not an indicator of the outcome.

Hi!

The passing score is not fixed and depends on variables like the performance of other candidates.

With a strong CV, a referral, and confidence in your good performance you should have good chances to pass it.

Good luck,

Anto

Hi there,

From what you mentioned it seems you had a good performance. However, no one can clearly say if it is a pass, as we don’t know your actual performance in the questions.

I agree with Ian that it makes more sense to focus on your next interviews/prep steps at this stage – whatever was your performance, you are not in control of the outcome now.

Best,

Francesco
