I am considering joining Bain Dubai as consultant. I am a little nervous as I have the perception that MBB consultants in Dubai are seen a average talent globally. Is that a correct perception? Also, what are the exit opportunities? Thanks so much in advance!

Hi there,

I am not sure why the level in MBB should be lower in the ME now.

  • The competition there is tough given it’s one of the few offices flexible in accepting global applicants.
  • I did not see a bias in recent years in terms of the people I coached who got in compared to other geographies.
  • I did see a bias a few years ago, when they were recruiting far more. My personal perception is that it was easier to get in then, but that’s no longer the case.

Exits will depend on the projects you will take part in. Common industries in the ME are energy and public sector. You can check exit opportunities for Bain specifically on LinkedIn, looking at where the alumni are working now.

If you need help with Bain Dubai please feel free to PM me, I know 20+ real questions they asked there.

Best,

Francesco

Dear candidate,

Bain Dubai is an excellent choice. I highly recommend it. You will have a stellar work experience and lots of great exit options should you decide to move on, most importantly, it is a great firm to build a career in consulting. It also opens doors for you to work internationally afterwards, should you be interested in doing so.

Best regards,

Charlotte

There is some variation across the globe with regards to talent in MBB. However, there is a global minimum threshold that firms do not compromise. To get into MBB in any country is hard and succeeding is even harder. This really isn't something you should worry about!

30% off in April 2024 | Bain | EY-Parthenon | Roland Berger | Market Sizing | DARDEN MBA

That is unfounded. Hiring is as challenging as everywhere else (with a few exceptions where it is a notch harder) and projects are quite demanding as well.

Hello,

MBBs have a minimum threshold that you need to clear globally. This threshold would cover soft skills (presence, case leadership), hard skills (quant, business acumen) and your fit.

After clearing this level however, I would say that there is a certain level of demand/supply that can either help you or go against you depending on the office that you apply. E.g. There might be 10 excellent candidates for the NYC office but the office can only absorb 4. This pushes the bar a bit higher to get through.

Hope this clarifies!

All the best!
