Altman Solon Round 1 Query
Overview of answers
Hello!
Long story short: anything can be :)
However, if you are short with time, you can start with the ones we consider the classics, since they are repeated again and again in situations like yours:
1. Multiplying double digit numbers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ndkkPZYJHo
2. Leveraging math tools (Mimir math for iOS), Math tool on Viktor Cheng website to practice
Furthermore, you should practice as much as you can, and ensure that you cover:
1. Profitability cases- basic profitability framework.
2. Idea generation cases: for any specif issue
3. Growth cases: market penetration, new product launch, product mix change, etc.
4. Pricing cases
5. M&A cases
6. Valuation cases
7. Value chain cases
Hope it helps!
Cheers,
Clara
Hi there,
from what I know, their format is quite consulting standard, and consequently, same applies to the recommended prep approach.
- Time: each interview usually 45min
- Format:10-15min personal fit, ~30min case; 3rd interview in R1 could be fit only, but not sure if that applies to London office. If not, then likely standard case interview.
- Interview style: typically tilts a bit more towards interviewer-led (but not mandated), quite heavy on quant and market sizing
- Industry focus: mostly TMT of course, given their strong footprint in the space
That said, do keep an open mind and not fixate too much on a single industry or only select case types - as typical in consulting, anything can come and different interviewers have different styles + priorities.
Hope this helps - do feel free to reach out, if further questions.
Regards, Andi
Hi there,
The short answer is “anything” - please try not predict things and rather just learn how to solve any problem that comes your way!
That said, I have a “random” hunch that you might expect any of the following (direct from their website):
They follow the same format as other consulting firms
