What is the current online assessment for BCG London, please? I've seen a few different ones online.

The confusion makes sense because BCG London uses different assessments depending on the role.

For Associates (undergrad/Master's): you get a short numerical test after the CV screen, then another CV review, then interviews.

For Consultants (MBA/experienced hire): you get the Casey chatbot case. It's 8 to 10 questions, takes 25 to 35 minutes, and ends with a 1-minute video recommendation. Mix of multiple choice, short answer, and some math. You can't go back once you submit an answer.

There's also a newer step called the CCA (Consulting Career Assessment), introduced in 2024. BCG sends it right after you apply. It takes about 30 minutes, most sections are untimed, and calculators are allowed. Your score decides whether you move on to the Casey chatbot.

The old Potential Test is no longer used as of 2026.

So the mixed reports you've seen are probably people on different tracks, or comparing old and new formats.

hey there :)

for Boston Consulting Group London, the current online assessment (often called the “Bain & BCG Potential Test style” or BCG Online Case / Chat-Based Assessment depending on the role) is typically a mix of two parts

first, you usually get a chat or scenario based mini case where you act like a consultant and make sequential decisions, you receive messages, data tables, and sometimes charts, and you need to choose answers or type short responses based on the client situation

second, there is often a short numerical or data interpretation section where you quickly analyse tables or simple business metrics under time pressure

what changes people notice online is mostly because BCG rotates formats slightly by role (intern, associate, experienced hire), but the core idea stays the same, test structured thinking, prioritisation, and basic numerical judgement rather than heavy case knowledge

best preparation is not memorising cases but practising fast structuring, reading charts quickly, and making clear assumptions under time pressure

if you want, I can walk you through a realistic sample so you know exactly what it feels like before you start

best,
Alessa :)

Casey.

They will tell you more about it once you're in the recruiting pipeline. I wouldn't obsess about practising for a specific test already, but rather invest time in developing consulting skills through casing.

If you increase your overall baseline of these skills, this will show both in the tests and in the case performance, so it's the one area that will have a big impact on everything else.

If you need any help, feel free to drop me a line.

Best,
Cristian
