I’m curious about how the first-round video interviews at bulge bracket banks are usually set up. Is it typically one interviewer (analyst, associate, or recruiter) on Zoom asking behavioral and technical questions? Do they ever share exhibits or financial problems to work through live? Also, since it’s a virtual format, how do banks ensure that candidates aren’t using notes or outside help during the interview?

My experience from bulge-brackets is that the first interview (after HR screening) is with an associate (or senior analyst). The interviews usually focus on:
1) Personal fit and goals (10-15 mins): Why you? Why us? Guide us through a deal you have been following.
2) Technical questions (20-35 mins)
Lastly, even though you can use support, I believe it's very difficult to trick a seasoned associate on a live discussion. Especially as the interviewers will be focused on whether you really understand and have experience with what you are explaining - thus, theoretical, text-book answers (that you would get from Chat GPT) are usually not enough to outstand.
