Study Abroad Grades

Hi,

I recently completed my study abroad and have every reason to assume, that the courses taken there will boost my overall GPA.

Grades will post in early June, but won't be on my official home transcript (ECTS and local grade conversion) until mid September, by which many deadlines for recruiting in my geography will have passed.

Is it alright, if I do these conversions myself (as my school has guidance on how they convert) and add a note on the online application form, so I do not get any issues during the background check?

Also, my new official transcript that comes in mid September, will not only include these new modules from my study abroad, but also exams from this summer I have yet to sit?

Happy to hear any guidance you can give! Thank you so much!

Hi there,

Yes, it's totally ok to add predicted grades as long as you can explain the methodology by which you did it and it's a reasonable one. You might be overestimating the extent to which they care about grades anyway :)

Best,

Cristian

Hi there,

If you follow the appropriate steps to convert, then this is fine. However, you need to put “Estimated” on your resume. You also should indeed include a note in the application form.

Good luck with the application!

Yep, agree with what other coaches are suggesting here. Clearly mark them as “estimated or to be confirmed”.

Good luck with the applications! Yes, it is fine to put your predicted grades. Just have a clear cut methodology on the off chance that they ask you.

However, I will add that you might be overestimating the value of one semester of grades.

General rule of thumb, for applications, CVs and interviews only say and add things that you can defend well even when grilled into the 3rd and 4th layer of details.

I think it's fine to do as you suggest, as long you are transparent about it.
