I just received an offer from BCG Germany for a consultant role as an experienced hire. However, in the contract is no signing bonus, only an optional relocation money which after tax will be so low that there won't be much left of it (and as I am not moving to a new city, I would not get it anyway). Does anyone know if BCG is giving signing bonus in Germany? I must say that I am quite surprised that they don't… Any advice? thanks
This is not surprising at all!
Germany was never a market in which signing bonuses were paid by MBB! The only exception are VERY senior positions! So if you join as a “Consultant”, the chance of getting a sign on bonus is Germany is 0%!
The relocation bonus is standard. You might negotiate on it if you have a special reason (e.g., relocation from another geography).
But don't worry - in the grand scheme of your career income, a sign on bonus is completely insignificant. Congrats on the offer!

That's actually really surprising. Most of my candidates have received signing bonuses. Moreover, Germany is known for giving BMWs out as well :)
