Old submission

Hi everyone. I'm in kind of a tricky situation. I got a referral from BCG, and I was waiting to get my documents ready to apply through the referral. However, I realized that I have already applied to the same position with an old CV last April, and never got an answer from BCG (It's still pending on the system). Do you think I should just edit my CV on the system in the previous application and wait for an answer? or create a new account with the new documents and referral to make it visible?

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your situation:

  • First of all, honesty is the best policy. Rather than creating a new account, which could be seen as an attempt to deceive the application system, it's better to work within your existing application.
  • Moreover, I would advise you to contact the recruiting team at BCG. Explain the situation and let them know about the referral and your wish to update your documents. They will most likely appreciate your approach and guide you on the best course of action.
  • Lastly, make sure your referrer is also in the loop about your situation, so they can potentially offer their support in streamlining your application.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

Actually you should be ok here!

I would reach out to both HR and the referrer to “dobule-check” that your new resume (attached) is being referenced and not the old one.

This is actually not a bad way to get name familiarity with the recruiter - so could work in your favor even at the end of the day :)

It is totally fine that you made this mistake. Instead of re-doing everything, reach out to HR and the person that referred you and explain the situation and ask them if it is possible to use your updated resume instead. Usually it will not be an issue.

Hi there!

I'd create a new account with the new documents and then email HR and tell them that they should review the latter application (and that you want to withdraw the earlier one).

Don't worry too much about it. Just be proactive in communicating the change to them and it should all be fine. It's an admin issue.

Best,
Cristian

Hi,

I would get in touch with the recruiter to clarify what you should do. This is important as you don't want to do something that makes your application get ‘lost’ or annoy HR.

All the best!

Hi there,

Q: Do you think I should just edit my CV on the system in the previous application and wait for an answer? Or create a new account with the new documents and referral to make it visible?

I would recommend contacting HR and ask how you can update your application with the new material.

If you just edit the CV, they might have the previous application in pipeline for a rejection and then reject you automatically. If you do create a new account, it might be considered a way to circumvent the system with a second application.

Good luck!

Francesco
