Hi there,

By now, Perplexity or ChatGPT can give you a great answer on these and quicker. Let us know if you have any specific questions that we can help with.

I would also encourage you to start networking with consultants from the ME. You will get a qualitative understanding from them of what the industry is like and what their perception of the day-to-day job is. Aim especially to speak with new joiners (<1.5 y of tenure).

This guide will explain how you can get in touch with them:

Prestige: McKinsey and BCG, with the latter paying more, Bain is much smaller in the region and tends to focus on Financial Services / Investments projects.

Pay: anecdotal, but pay is higher at BA/Associate level at Tier 2 consulting firms than at McKinsey (e.g., Kearney, Oliver Wyman, Strategy&). It otherwise balances out at EM/AP level, then swings to higher partner pay at MBB.

Based on anecdotal experience as of May 2025

Hey there!

In the Middle East, MBB (McKinsey, BCG, Bain) are top in prestige, projects, and pay. Strategy&, Oliver Wyman, and Kearney follow closely. Bain and BCG pay slightly more than McKinsey on average. Total comp for consultants is around $120k–220k, tax-free. Big 4 pay less, usually $100k–140k.

Let me know if you want firm-by-firm details!

Best,
Alessa

Other coaches have already given you good answers. I’d recommend speaking with current consultants to get a sense for the culture at each firm as well.
