Mckinsey PSG Invitation

Q: I have been checking Mckinsey's website every day, but my status still says "submitted". Does this mean I'm not shortlisted? 

Difficult to say. McKinsey is currently not hiring in some countries, so they might be delaying the review of the applications. I would recommend to contact HR to verify with them.

• I would highly advise you to reach out to the recruiter to politely inquire about the status of your application. While lead times in strategy consulting application processes currently fluctuate quite a bit, you should have heard back from them by now.

It's certainly not panic mode or anything like that for you. These things take time. You may hear back tomorrow or in months. It just depends on their timelines.

Additionally, please make sure you're not wistfully staring out the window for McKinsey! The truth is it probably won't happen. That should be the expectation you set.

Apply to dozens of other firms, move on. It's the only thing you can do in this situation.

At this point, I'd suggest you reach out to HR and politely ask about the status of your application. One month is indeed on the long end of waiting.

Direct online submissions have known to have an invite lead time of anywhere between 1 day to 6 months based on experience from my students. Too many factors at play here.

It is best to keep checking with HR from your target office on the status of the application.

Alternatively, you could try securing a referral, which might help speed up the process.

From my point of view, do not overthink the status at McKinsey. It just means that they're reviewing your application. Of course if your rejected or accepted, you will be notified.

So the firm will send through the links to the PSG when the application window for the role has opened. I suggest asking recruiting when this will be and when you can expect an invitation.
